Just wrote the following complaint and hoping to hear back. I had a bad experience with this kiosk and in general do not appreciate the business model:

“Hello,

I would like a refund for $8.52 for the key copy that was made on December 30th in the evening at the Bed Bath and Beyond in Davie, FL.

This key was cut with terrible quality and made with cheap materials rendering the key useless. See the attached image of a terrible laser cut quality and scratched up key.

As a side note, I am appalled at how much personal information was requested in the process and at the absurdly high prices. My locksmith can make a key copy for $2 and does a much better job without needing my phone number, email address, or payment information, or any other personal info on file. The KeyMe price of $8 is over 4 times the standard cost of a higher quality key.

In addition, the fact that this machine is not part of bed bath and beyond and that there is no customer service that can be provided from someone on site in the moment is absurd and is borderline robbery. In case like mine or others where the machine has issues and there is no one to address the problem in real time, you’re requiring people to reach out afterwards and relying on them having the time and energy to complain. This takes advantage of vulnerable populations who do not have such things.

I hope you can remedy my issue but also prevent similar issues from happening in the future by addressing these concerns and changing your business model so as to not take advantage of vulnerable populations. “

So we just relocated in July. When we got the key to our new place we needed to make copies and we found this nifty kiosk. During the initial visit I was prompted to save the key in case I ever needed one. I figured what the hell. So fast forward a few months and due to a change in routine, I ended up on the other side of a locked door with no house keys. Then I remembered the KeyMe kiosk. Ran back down to the store, logged in to the kiosk and there is was — my saved key. Printed a few out and went about the day 🙂 so glad I saved that key, what a great feature.
