To give you better insight of my experience here’s a snippet of the email that I sent to North American Title Company. I wish I could give them a zero. They ended up giving me a refund of about $350, which I believe was one of the closing fees. As a first time home buyer, this was a nightmare. Oh, and BTW, they are part of Lennar Corporation… Go figure.

My closing was on 4.30.208 scheduled for 12:30 PM. I did not close until 5:30 PM due to the fact the North American Title Company did not have the certificate of occupancy. This was not shown to me during the closing. I believe it is negligent to schedule a closing knowing all the required documents are not available. If a showed up past 5 PM to a 12:30 PM closing I’m sure I would not be seen and would have been financially penalized for delaying the closing and causing it to fall on the month a May instead of April. Additionally, the address listed on the certificate of occupancy was incorrect.

The elevation certificate and settlement certificate in the closing packet were never presented to me during the closing.
